During scheduled maintenance of the Cupid Suite between 8:00 and 9:00 A.M. on December 16, 1995, maids discovered a naked female corpse tied to the bed with silk scarves. The body was later identified as Mimi Farrell. According to hotel records, the Cupid Suite had been listed as vacant in the reservations computer at the time of the murder. NOTES Further investigation revealed that a pass key had been stolen from the maintenance staff several days earlier. The pass key was not recovered. The victim's clothing, purse and house key were the only other items discovered at the scene, leading investigators to believe that the victim had been lured to the Cupid Suite for a brief sexual encounter. However, tests revealed victim showed no evidence of sexual activity within twenty four hours of death. Medical examiners determined that victim had been strangled with a scarf recovered at scene. Victim's blood tested positive for both alcohol and cocaine at time of death. Fingerprint HELP identification at scene proved impossible due to volume and corruption of available prints.
